FOLLOW THE MONEY
Here’s how the value of the coffee is distributed:

MEET THE FARMERS
Our Dark Roast now originates in Mizan Farm, Ethiopia. There we have established a model farm project, allowing local farmers to build economies of scale, share infrastructure, plant coffee trees and ultimately earn a living income.
MEET THE PROCESSING TEAM
When the farmers deliver the ripe red berries to the washing station, the processing team washes them and puts them on the drying beds.
MEET THE COFFEE ROASTERS
Moyee has started its own roastery in Kenya. Some batches of Dark is roasted and packaged at Moyee’s roastery and some batches are roasted at Moyee’s FairChain Partner African Coffee Roasters in Athi River, Kenya. It employs 41 people. That way, at least fifty percent of the value remains in this coffee region.
MEET THE PACKAGER
Immediately after the beans have been roasted, they are packed. Our team packs the coffee with nitroflush, so that all the oxygen goes out of the packaging so that the beans arrive fresh in the Netherlands. On each pack there is a PRD date, which is the production date. This way you know exactly when your coffee is roasted!

MEET THE FARMERS
The beans for our Dark roast come directly from our Mizan Farm in southwestern Ethiopia. Mizan is one of the historic hearts of arabica farming. Because of its great coffee quality and almost unequaled biodiversity, the entire region is on the frontline of agroforestry and reforestation projects to protect its special character for future generations.
MEET THE PROCESSING TEAM
When the farmers deliver the ripe red berries to the washing station, the processing team washes them and puts them on the drying beds.
MEET THE COFFEE ROASTERS
Dark is roasted at a state-of-the-art facility in Addis Ababa, trucked there fresh from the fields where the beans were picked. It is arguably the shortest supply chain from field to packaging. By roasting at origin we ensure that at least 50% of the value remains within the coffee communities themselves.
MEET THE PACKAGER
Immediately after being roasted, the beans are 'nitro flushed', a process that removes the oxygen from the packaging to ensure your beans arrive fresh. Each package includes a Product Requirements Document (PRD), specifying the production date so you know exactly when your coffee was roasted.

MEET THE FARMERS
Moyee is in direct contact with more than 658 farmers who grow the cherries of the Single in Limu, Ethiopia. Coffee plants are at an altitude of more than 1,600 meters under the canopy of a natural coffee forest. From November until January, the ripe, red berries are picked by hand and processed at our own washing station.
MEET THE PROCESSING TEAM
Moyee has its own washing station in Limu. During the harvest, the FairChain farmers from the area bring their ripe, red berries here. The berries are washed and, for the best quality, dried slowly on the drying beds. To ensure our quality, the beans are then slowly dried on drying beds.
