MICROLOT SERIES: RIVERHUT
A DREAM TAKES ROOT
Riverhut Coffee began in a region where coffee is rare. It all started when an inspired ambassador accepted a bold request from a customer to grow coffee in a place few believed it could thrive. With no experience, only hope and determination, he planted the first Batian trees, unsure if they would ever bear fruit.
Against all odds, the trees took root. Now, as Riverhut celebrates its third harvest, the farm stands as a pioneer in the region. Each bean carries the story of courage and care, nurtured in a unique microclimate to create a cup that’s vibrant, clean, and full of character.
FARMER LILY AENDA
The farm started with one passionate ambassador planting Batian trees where few believed coffee could thrive. Tragically, he passed away before his first harvest. But his dream didn’t end there.
Lily Aenda, a determined and visionary leader, stepped in.
She nurtured the young trees, built a processing facility, and guided the farm through every challenge. Today, Riverhut stands as one of the few thriving coffee operations in Homa Bay County, and each harvest reflects Lily and her team's strong dedication and resilience.
PROCESSING METHOD
Situated 1,200 meters above sea level, Riverhut’s 20-acre farm thrives in a microclimate that shapes every bean. The cherries are carefully handpicked, washed, pulped, and dried with precision to bring out their natural sweetness and clarity. The result is a cup bursting with fruity notes, brown sugar, and orange, wrapped in a silky texture.
FLAVOUR PROFILE
This coffee shines with vibrant fruity notes and a touch of juicy orange, complemented by a smooth brown sugar finish and a velvety mouthfeel. Each sip is layered, clean, and full of character—coffee that tastes as lively as it feels.

MEET THE FARMERS
Moyee is in direct contact with more than 658 farmers who grow the cherries of the Single in Limu, Ethiopia. Coffee plants are at an altitude of more than 1,600 meters under the canopy of a natural coffee forest. From November until January, the ripe, red berries are picked by hand and processed at our own washing station.
MEET THE PROCESSING TEAM
Moyee has its own washing station in Limu. During the harvest, the FairChain farmers from the area bring their ripe, red berries here. The berries are washed and, for the best quality, dried slowly on the drying beds. To ensure our quality, the beans are then slowly dried on drying beds.
